Hello, my name is Harriet, thank you for joining me! I am the maker behind Wild Wood Stitches - everything here has been sewn by me in my home in the hills above Loch Ness.

Crafting has always been a part of my life; my mother taught me to knit, sew and embroider, my grandmothers always had some knitting or cross stitch on the go, and I have many memories of my early projects, including wonky scarves, terrible cushion covers and upcycled clothes (the pair of jeans converted into a skirt, dyed black and embroidered with red flowers from my “not quite goth” phase definitely stands out!).

After having my son, and needing a meditative way to connect with my creativity I started quilting, and once we had enough quilts I began to make bags. Then a couple of years ago I rediscovered my love of knitting and making project bags seemed like the perfect way to combine the two.

Creating in a world that does not need us to be consuming more and more, it is key to my work that everything that I make is long-lasting as well as beautiful, and made in a way that reduces the impact of the processes involved. All of my fabrics come from natural materials including the Harris Tweed which I use for the base of my bags, which provides strength and longevity as well as a huge range of colours and patterns to compliment the whimsical, nature inspired cotton prints that bring joy to my work.
